Work output is the tangible or intangible product, deliverable, or measurable accomplishment produced by an individual, team, or machine through the expenditure of effort.
Tangible or Intangible: They can be physical items (like a prototype or product unit) or digital/conceptual deliverables (like a report, code commit, design, or decision).
Countable and Immediate: Unlike activities (the time spent working) or outcomes (the long-term impact), an output is finished and can be counted or verified right away.
Product of Behavior: It represents what was made or delivered, not just the effort or hours spent doing the task.
Activities vs. Outputs: Activities are the actions you take (attending meetings, writing, researching). Outputs are the actual things you produce from those actions (a meeting agenda, a memo, a research paper).
Outputs vs. Outcomes: An output is what you build or deliver (e.g., writing a new software feature). An outcome is the value or change that happens because of it (e.g., faster data access or happier users).
Documents & Plans: Reports, budget plans, meeting minutes, proposals, and marketing briefs.
Code & Technical Work: Software code commits, fixed bugs, deployed features, or system configurations.
Decisions & Agreements: Signed contracts, approved budgets, resolved support tickets, or finalized project designs.
